FAQ

Q1: What does the UCM2 board do in a CMC4+ lift?

A: It is the main CPU board of the controller, and its official name is the manoeuvre control unit. All the parameters, the shaft setup and the fault codes are stored on the UCM2 board itself. It also carries the shaft CAN bus and the group CAN bus, so a failure here isolates the car completely.

Q2: I fitted a new UCM2 and the lift will not run. Why?

A: The new board arrives without the site data, because the parameters, the shaft setup and the fault memory were held on the old board. The parameters have to be loaded and the shaft has to be taught again before the lift will run normally. That is also why the old board should be kept, not scrapped, until the new one is running.

Q3: What does the MOD code after 2665.67 mean?

A: 2665.67 is the board design number, and the MOD code identifies the programmed configuration of that board. The same board is quoted in the market with MOD codes such as 555565 and 555575, so the number is not interchangeable at random. Please read the MOD code from the label and send a photo, and we will match it rather than ship the nearest number.

Q4: Does the firmware version matter when replacing the board?

A: Yes, and this is where most surprises come from. TKE states that UCM2 firmware v01.04.31 and UCV firmware 02.00 depend on each other, so an older board will not work with a newer UCV and the reverse is also true. The same applies to the landing boards: UCM2 up to v01.06.15 is not compatible with UCP firmware from v01.15, while UCM2 from v01.08.27 is.

Q5: Which numbers are read to check the version on site?

A: The controller stores the versions in fixed addresses that can be read with the service tool. A908 is the firmware version, A909 the revision, A90A the communication version and A90B the hardware version. The hardware version matters too: TKE marks the first pre-series boards differently from the compatible production boards.

Q6: What do the jumpers and switches on the board do?

A: J1 is the shaft CAN bus termination and must be removed in a single elevator; J2 is the group CAN termination and must be bridged in a single elevator. The LEDs RXC1, TXC1, RXC2 and TXC2 show the shaft and group CAN traffic and should be blinking. The RESET switch clears a blocking fault and repeats the roll call, which is the step to take after changing a landing board.
